On the last Sunday of each month, beginning June 27th, 2021, we’ll will present a workshop “Varieties of Secular Experience: Navigating AA in a Secular Way.” Each workshop will feature a different speaker or panel of speakers sharing their own experience, strength, and hope for about 30 minutes on some aspect of getting, staying, and/or living sober in AA in a secular way.

Dr. Allen Berger

Dr. Berger is a psychotherapist and author of several books. Among them: 12 Stupid Things That Mess Up Recovery, and 12 Smart Things to Do When the Booze and Drugs Are Gone. Dr. Berger has given many seminars on this topic and others related to recovery.

Joe C

Joe C. is a well-known speaker, especially among the secular AA community.      He is a host/producer of Rebellion Dogs Radio, a researcher, and the author of Beyond Belief: Agnostic Musings for 12 Step Life.

Marya Hornbacher

Marya Hornbacher is an award-winning journalist and bestselling writer. Her books include Waiting: A Nonbeliever’s Higher Power; Wasted: A Memoir of Anorexia and Bulimia (which has been published in twelve languages), and the New York Times bestseller Madness: A Bipolar Life; She also wrote the recovery book Sane: Mental Illness, Addiction, and the Twelve Steps, and the novel The Center of Winter.

John R

John is the moderator and a presenter, a co-founder of Freethinkers Living Sober Group and in recovery for nearly four decades.
